Veneers or Composite Bonding: What’s the Difference?

Explore the differences between two cosmetic options, including their uses, limitations, and maintenance considerations.

Veneers and composite bonding can both improve the appearance of teeth, but they work differently.

Composite Bonding

Bonding uses tooth-colored resin applied directly to the tooth. It is often more conservative and can address small chips, gaps, and edges in suitable cases. It may stain or wear over time and need maintenance.

Porcelain Veneers

Veneers are custom-made restorations bonded to the front of teeth. They can change shape and shade more comprehensively but may require removal of some natural tooth structure.

Choosing Between Them

Your dentist will consider your goals, tooth structure, bite, and budget, and explain the benefits and limitations of each approach.
